LaShondra Brown, MA, LMSW, CDP

Central Regional Director

LaShondra Brown is a native of Hampton, AR.  She attended and graduated from Hampton High School in 1996.  She then moved to Pine Bluff, AR to attend college at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB).  While attending college at UAPB, LaShondra worked as an Assistant Manager at Domino’s Pizza and a Substitute Teacher with the Pine Bluff School District.

After graduating from UAPB in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, she began a career in law enforcement.  Her career in law enforcement started in 2005 with the Arkansas Department of Corrections, where she worked briefly as a Correctional Officer before transitioning to the Arkansas Community Corrections (ACC) as a Probation/Parole Agent (PPA).  LaShondra worked as a PPA with ACC for 11.5 years.  During her tenure with ACC, she was a certified BLS instructor and a CLEST certified instructor at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy.  While at ACC, LaShondra worked with many populations and wondered how she could be of more service to these individuals on a larger scale but from a different platform.  It was during this time that her passion for Social Work began to develop and manifest.  LaShondra loves to see others succeed in life and chose Social Work to assist those who could not help themselves due to lack of education, misrepresentation, and/or social status.

In 2010, she received her Master of Arts in Business and Organizational Security Management from Webster University, while employed with ACC.  She then enrolled in graduate school at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) to obtain her Master’s in Social Work in 2013.  She graduated with honors from UALR in 2016.  LaShondra is credentialed as a Licensed Master Social Worker and a Certified Dementia Practitioner.  She is licensed to practice Social Work in the states of Arkansas and Texas.  LaShondra is currently in clinical supervision working towards obtaining licensure in Texas as a Clinical Social Worker.

She recently graduated with honors from Northeast Texas Community College with an Associates of Applied Sciences in Funeral Service Education and is Provisionally Licensed as a Funeral Director and Embalmer in the state of Texas.  LaShondra is currently employed with Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola, TX and Winnsboro, TX.

LaShondra was previously employed as an Outpatient Therapist with Magnolia Behavioral Hospital, where she founded, developed, and launched their Intensive Outpatient/Partial Hospitalization Program in 2018.  She currently works as the Director of Resident Support Services at Focused Care of Gilmer.  This position makes it possible for her to live her dream daily of working in Long-Term Care and advocating for the elderly.

LaShondra has worked in many areas of Social Work including medical social work, school social work, mental health, substance abuse, and outpatient therapy.  She has worked as an Adjunct Instructor in Criminal Justice with the University of Phoenix, Geriatric Psychiatric Therapist at Baptist Health Medical Center, Recovery Manager with Primrose Health Solutions, Geropsych Outpatient Therapist at Hunt Regional Outpatient Behavioral Health, Mental Health Therapist II at Baptist Health Medical Center, Mental Health Professional at UAMS Medical Center, and Substance Abuse Therapist at Baptist Health Medical Center.

LaShondra is a member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness-Greater Longview and served as the Vice-Chair in 2019.  She is also a member of the Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society, Delta Epsilon Iota Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, National Association of Social Work, National Association of University Women, National Funeral Directors Association, and Texas Funeral Directors Association.

LaShondra enjoys traveling, shopping, spending quality time with friends and family, and planning for her next big adventure.  She is a member of Old Saint James Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, AR but currently attends church services at Unity Church in Mt. Pleasant, TX.  LaShondra was blessed with three of the most wonderful children in the world-Shuntianna, Jayla, and Quinton Jr.

In the future, LaShondra aspires to purchase a funeral home, become a certified End-of-Life Doula, and start a private practice specializing in Bereavement, Complicated Grief, and Grief and Loss.

LaShondra firmly believes, “Do not let your problems determine your answers.”  Her recipe for success is to always keep God first in everything you do, let your motivation be your fuel for success, and allow humility to keep you grounded.
